Raw silk is one of our absolute favorite fabrics. It has the thicker feel of a cotton fabric, with a slightly rough texture that is a great counterpoint to its lightness. Made out of the strongest natural fibers, its natural irregularities are part of its beauty. 
That is one of the reasons why we like to consider it to be Emil’s signature fabric.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR RAW SILK PIECE

Washing
To keep your raw silk as close as possible to its original condition, we recommend dry cleaning. However, raw silk is also the most washable silk. Washed raw silk has a beautiful, soft, lived-in texture. You can hand wash or use a gentle machine wash cycle. Be sure to use a detergent without bleach, such as Soak Wash, because bleach will break down silk fibers.

After washing
Hang dry or lay flat to dry. Please note that darker colors may bleed or fade more quickly with washing. Dark colors can also fade or streak if washed, so dry clean in order to retain richer colors. Low iron or steam if needed.
