Takazawa Candle
From the city of Nanao, in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, a set of five different candles, all with a motif of a different plant that grows in the Noto Peninsula. The flame of these traditional Japanese candles, in sumac wax, is bigger and brighter than usual. Their wick is made from plant-based materials such as dried rush and washi-paper, thus symbolizing the beautiful relationship between their ancestors and nature.
